My PS11 Classic - This is how we do it

I know, it's been awhile!  I seriously didn't think anyone was reading this until I looked at my pageviews.  So my sincere apologies.... hope I can make it up to you with my new purchases!

First of all, following my "Broke Baby" post, I finally saved up enough money to buy a PS11!  I have been drooling over this bag for over a year and I've kept a look out for alternatives but nope, nothing came close.  This is how I went about it:

1.  I ALWAYS feel so bad when I make impulse buys.... I straight up just die of post cognitive dissonance (big word there that I'm using from Consumer Behaviour at QUT - basically means that you regret what you just bought) so I made a pact with myself that if I was going to spend big, I would save up for it, that way, I don't use money that was meant for something else!  You're actually putting money away for this so when you buy it - totally justifies everything - ha!

2. If you have Netbank with Commonwealth Bank, you can name this temporary savings account - so mine was "Proenza Bag Fund", even set up automatic deposits so you won't even know!  They have money goals and everything so it makes saving pretty fun.

I finally reached the goal date and I was so excited!  I bought my PS11 from http://www.forwardforward.com/ - definitely recommend this site.  Free international shipping, includes tracking and you get it the next week - that is unless it is held in customs - which mine was :(

Let it be a note to my lovely shoppers who are unaware that if you spend over $1,000 out of Australia, you will get charged customs and duties tax.  So make sure you do the math!  I paid an extra 10%, 5% and $50 for processing but fortunately I bought the PS11 when the AUD was strong so it ended up slightly cheaper anyway.

Duty is calculated as a percentage of the price you paid for goods (aka the Customs Value - CV).  Depending on the product, the applicable duty rate can be anywhere from 0% to 10%, however the majority of goods attract a 5% duty rate.

GST is calculated at 10% of the Value of the Taxable Import (VoTI).

So yah da yah da, I paid the buggers and then my bag was released (it sucked a bit because they don't send it express) but I'll tell you what.... when I opened that box, that bag just glowed.... and so did I.

Was it worth all the above?  I'd do it all over again.  xx
